The holidays tend to be filled with food, family, and inevitably some amount of emotional distress. Here are some things for you to consider in preparation for your Thanksgiving:
– What do you need to do to ensure your nutritional needs are met throughout the course of the entire day? Some thoughtful planning around this can make a world of difference.
– Distress tolerance skills can be really helpful. Go back through your DBT materials for a fresh perspective on what you can be using throughout the day.
– Set some time aside throughout the course of the day for reflection. You may want to consider doing a short mindfulness practice and then journal to help facilitate this.
– Come up with a back-up plan plan. If things get too intense or overwhelming, where can you go and what can you do that will support you?
