PAIN IS AN INEVITABLE PART OF LIFE

Experiencing emotional pain is a part of the human condition.  To get relief from this pain, many people will turn to maladaptive behaviors including eating disorder behaviors, self harm, and substances use.

Wanting relief makes sense.  The biggest challenge is to learn to do this skillfully without harming yourself or others.  Approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy are created for just this reason; to help you learn new ways of navigating emotions and build a life worth living.

EARLY AND EFFECTIVE INTERVENTION MATTERS

Eating disorders, self harm, and other destructive behaviors often thrive in secrecy. The earlier a person seeks treatment the greater the likelihood of full recovery. It is common to minimize behaviors or symptoms, compare yourself to others who you believe may be worse off, or justify putting off treatment for various reasons.

Developing a mental illness is not a choice, however, intervening and seeking treatment is. We want to give you the best chance of a full recovery.
