Eating disorders, self harm, and other destructive behaviors often thrive in secrecy. The earlier a person seeks treatment the greater the likelihood of full recovery. It is common to minimize behaviors or symptoms, compare yourself to others who you believe may be worse off, or justify putting off treatment for various reasons.
